Springtails
Springtails are essential for many exotic pet owners, whether for practical reasons or their striking looks. The springtails' main benefit is eating mould that would otherwise take over a warm, humid habitat. These tiny creatures are easy to care for and harmless to you and your other pets. The only downside of these adorable animals is that they're too small to hug.

Tropical White Springtails

Tropical white springtails are among the most popular varieties available. They reproduce rapidly and work tirelessly to keep your vivarium clean of mould and detritus.
These springtails are also easy to culture, requiring no more than some charcoal, food and water in a jar. As such, it is easy for hobbyists to keep some handy for when they're needed.

Thai Red Springtails

Thai red springtails are different from tropical white springtails in several ways. For example, they don't jump as their white cousins do and, as the name suggests, they come in a striking red colour.
These springtails are a little more challenging in terms of care but are prized for their bright colouring, which can make them noticeable in any vivarium.
